Deeper Learning in a Distance Learning World: Workshop 2

“Teaching Fish About Water: Critical Engagement with Media” led by Kerri Redding (Washington International School)
In a media-saturated culture, teachers must support young people in critically examining media as part of their learning journey. In this workshop, digital media will serve as a catalyst for making thinking visible and engaging in challenging conversations--whether it be teaching in person, online, or in a hybrid learning environment. Using the core concepts of media literacy as well as tools from the Project Zero Artful Thinking palette and the new book, The Power of Making Thinking Visible, we will explore photographs, video, and film through the lenses of creator and consumer. This workshop will be useful for teachers across grade levels and subject areas interested in integrating critical media literacy into their curriculum.

Tickets are $35 each.
