Deeper Learning in a Distance Learning World: Winter Workshop 3

Representation Matters: The ‘ART’ of Creating Mirrors, Windows and Doors
Gerald D. Smith Jr., St. Thomas More Academy

Using historical artworks from a variety of cultures, participants will explore ways to promote critical thinking and reimagine the representation of marginalized groups in order to empower and inspire a new generation of creative thinkers. This workshop, led by Gerald D. Smith Jr., an avid educator invested in democratizing and elevating the voices of those often overlooked, will guide us in using powerful methods for pairing art with Project Zero Thinking Routines and JusticexDesign (a new project with the Agency by Design initiative at Project Zero) protocols. This session is intended for educators, parents, and allies of children of color and those interested in building a sensitivity to representation in our education system.

Cost is $40.
