National Portrait Gallery-DCPZ Educators’ Workshop

How are artists activists? In this workshop, we will explore the work of two artists, Maya Lin and Ruby LaToya Frazier.  “One Life: Maya Lin” is the first biographical exhibition dedicated to the architect, sculptor, environmentalist, and designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. LaToya Ruby Frazier’s photo essay, Flint is Family, documenting the lives of those affected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, is highlighted in our “Kinship” exhibition. We’ll use Project Zero thinking routines to examine the ways in which these artists engage in activism through their work.
